You have probably heard of it. You have also probably seen Facebook friends trying to sell it! Even the news talks about it. So what is CBD? Cannabidol, otherwise known as CBD, is one of the 104 components of a marijuana plant. Many want to know if it is safe. Are there side effects? So let’s talk about what is one of many controversial topics out there!

Using Cannabidiol

While Cannabidiol is not federally regulated, or produced it is legal in about 30 states where medicinal or recreational marijuana use is legal. It can help with a range of medical issues. For example: epilepsy, arthritis, and anxiety. There is also talk about how it can be used to help people quit smoking. Even reduce the side effects of Alzheimer’s disease, which is a very horrible disease in which those diagnosed loose their memory and show behavioral issues. CBD has been shown to have anti-psychotic effects on those with Schizophrenia, and could help lower blood pressure.

Though not federally regulated, the FDA has recommended approval of the Cannabidol medicine, Epidiolex. Epidiolex is used to treat two rare forms of childhood epilepsy. For those with arthritis, researchers have noticed a significant drop in inflammation and pain. And the great news is they found it without any additional side effects, when used as a topical gel with CBD in it!

Cannabidiol can be used as the oil or even in food, so why not put it in some chocolate! When most think of CBD, the main question is, “Does it get you high?” The answer is no. It comes from the non-psychoactive part of the cannabis plant.

Side Effects of CBD

Now that we have covered it’s uses and how you can take it, does it have any side effects?? The professionals say that most people handle CBD very well, with little to no side effects. However, there could be some. Possible side effects include:

  • Change of appetite
  • Change of mood
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea

The great news is that researchers also say that those who take CBD would not likely develop any tolerance to it, so that means there would be no need to up any of your dosages should you decide to take it.

Should you take it? That is completely up to you and your preferences. I know many people who have or who do take Cannabidol and absolutely love it. They went from being in chronic pain, not being able to move hardly to going back to just about their normal self! The choice is completely up to you!
